ERIC RAISINA (Cambodia)
ERIC RAISINA is one of those designers able to transport you immediately into his own private universe. It was in his home of Madagascar where he began his foray into design and sewing. Natural materials, such as silk, raffia, sisal, linen and cotton quickly became his trademarks.
Winning the prize of New Young Talent at the Fashion Festival and Textile Competition ( MANJA ) enabled him to study in Paris at the Duperré School where he excelled in the creation of textiles. He began entering his creations in the Haute Couture shows in Paris, and graduated with a Master’s degree from the Institut Français de la Mode in 1999.
His taste for exploration compelled him to discover new cultures and diverse techniques in Africa as well as in Asia. Various experiences gave him the confidence to start his own workshop where he trained weavers, sewers, and embroiderers. Research began on new textures, colors, unique weave patterns, most recognizable Silk Fur and Natural Raffia lace.
He was commissioned to create unique textiles for the fashion houses of Yves Saint-Laurent and Christian Lacroix. The textiles themselves inspire him to go to the heart of the matter, creating designs with the forms of the materials themselves, by passing the sketching stage.
One of the techniques he has developed is to create small, flat flowers shapes out of silk organza and then crochet together in the order of size and color that he wants.
Eric doesn’t go for patterns, he goes for textures.
ERIC RAISINA haute texture Collection is composed of one of a kind pieces and accessories which demonstrate his passion and talent for style, which continues to evolve, all the while staying true to his personal taste.
His collections have been shown in Asia, Afrique, Europe and the United States.

DAVID TLALE (South Africa)
Over the five years since he launched his brand, award-winning designer, David Tlale has proven that he is indeed “Tlale” with designs that go far beyond expectations.
The year 2008 was a fruitful one for the brand; a year in which Mr. Tlale was voted the most stylish person at the Annual South African Style Awards. He was also voted Mzansi’s Star Fashion Designer at the Mzansi Star Awards and also nominated at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Awards 2008, along with many other accolades and nominations. He was also invited to judge the Elle New Talent 2008 competition, a place where he began his journey in fashion.
In addition, it was also in 2008 that David Tlale launched his Green Collection for the voluptuous women of Mzansi; a collection that modeled by ’South African’ celebrities and journalists, including the likes of Judith Sephuma, Lebo Mashile, KG Moeketsi and Anele Mdoda.
His proud moments in 2008 include designing a showstopper for British model, Jourdan Dunn, which was showcased at Virgin Mobile Cape Town Fashion Week and being chosen to be an ambassador for the Change-4-Ever campaign, which aims to alleviate poverty in Southern Africa.
In the proudly South African year of 2010, David showcased a 54 piece collection accompanied by a live, 28 piece orchestra at the African Fashion International Week (AFI) during the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Breaking all boundaries, David Tlale hosted an outstanding show on the Nelson Mandela Bridge during Joburg Fashion Week 2011. The collection celebrated Nelson Mandela’s 92 years of life as it consisted of an unbelievable 92 pieces showcased by celebrities, models, sports men and women, as well as business people that all together make South Africa beautiful.
Both daring and dramatic, David Tlale is a brand that defies convention and a brand that impenitently employs unpredictable use and understanding of fabric, color and texture.
It is with this understanding that the David Tlale brand developed to be one of the most formidable fashion labels in South Africa to date. With that said, it came as no surprise when David Tlale was awarded Fashion Designer of the year at the recent ARISE Africa Fashion Awards, when Mr. Tlale presented a Ready-To-Wear Collection that defied all expectations.
With this award, David Tlale had the opportunity to showcase at the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, in September 2009, courtesy of Arise Magazine.
Since his catwalk debut in 2003, David Tlale has enjoyed outstanding exposure on both local and International catwalks, taking the label to astronomic heights.
David Tlale is a household label that firmly stands its own ground among a sea of other labels; this being attributed to the sheer design erudition and precision that challenges mediocrity.
Mr. Tlale Proudly supports United Colors of Fashion, Incorporated and its HIV/AIDS program at the Soweto Hospice in South Africa
